Juniors in Adult Competitions

Glen Golf Club operate an open and inclusive policy in relation to its junior members. We recognise that the junior members are a key part of the future of the Club. The junior section organise a number of junior medals throughout the year as well as participating in the East Lothian junior golf league. We also recognise that there is a place for junior members participating in adult competitions, and this policy sets out our approach to this.

Juniors who have reached an acceptable standard of play and who have demonstrated that they can conduct themselves in an appropriate manner that is becoming of a member of the Glen Golf Club can be considered to participate in adult competitions and the Club Championship.

As a guiding principle, the Club would expect a junior member to have achieved a handicap of 18 (as an acceptable standard) or under to be eligible to apply to me as Junior Convenor for approval to play in adult competitions. Any current junior member who has already played in a Glen adult competition can consider themselves eligible for future adult competitions. Any junior member who has not already played in an adult competition, has achieved the handicap guide level (18) or below and wishes to do so should contact me for consideration.

Should the conduct of the junior fall below acceptable standards this privilege may be removed at the discretion of the Junior Convenor or Match Secretary.

Junior members may enter ordinary competitions online in the usual way in any time slots that are available at the time of entry. Juniors shall play for the main competition trophy and prize, the sweep and magic twos, on payment of the entry fee.

Eligible junior members shall be entitled to compete for the adult club championship relevant to their handicap category (and be entitled to receive the appropriate trophy and prize money), in addition to being able to compete for relevant junior championships

The Rhodes Golf Club has also agreed juniors may join for an annual entry fee of £10 and the same criteria as above applies in terms of eligibility and playing in Rhodes competitions.
