Under the club constitution, all members over 50 years old are classed as Seniors.
The Seniors Section runs a "bounce game" three days a week, a Christmas Texas Scramble and dinner, an annual dinner for members and guests and an "Away Day" in the late summer. In addition, the Club run a number of competitions which are open to Senior members, including the Adam Nicholson and Tom Torrie competitions for members and a Senior Open competition in July.
Tees are reserved for up to 24 players in bounce games every Wednesday and Friday, and on every Monday except the Monday before the second Tuesday on the month. In these weeks, the tee times are reserved on the second Tuesday of the month to allow members to compete in the monthly qualifying club stableford competition. Members playing on a Tuesday are expected to enter the competition which will help to maintain their handicap.
The first tee times for Bounce games are 11:30 in the winter and 12:00 noon in the summer. Summer and winter are denoted by the change of clocks between winter and summer time.
All senior members of any gender are welcome to play in bounce games. The format is individual stableford with the best two scores on each hole to count. An adjustment of 7 strokes is added to the score of a team of three when there is a mixture of 3 and 4 member teams. The draw for teams is made 10 minutes before the first tee time, and members are encouraged to arrive in plenty of time. If there are more than 24 members who wish to play, only the first 24 names on the list in the clubhouse are guaranteed a game. If there are free tee times after those reserved, extra teams may be added.
Please come and join us. You will be assured of a warm welcome and an enjoyable round of golf. It's a great opportunity for new members to get to know each other and those who have been members for a while.
